Prayer for Bible Study
Eternal God,
who caused all holy scriptures
to be written for our learning,
grant us so to hear them,
read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them,
that we may embrace and ever hold fast
the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
The holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
according to Mark.
33
Then Pilate entered the headquarters again, summoned Jesus, and asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" 34 Jesus answered, "Do you ask this on your own, or did others tell you about me?" 35 Pilate replied, "I am not a Jew, am I?" Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?" 36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here." 37 Pilate asked him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice." John 18:33-37The Gospel of Christ.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
O God, help us discern the presence of your kingdom amidst the daily events occurring in the world that are violent, fearful and stressful.
Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer.
O King of kings and Lord of lords, may the vision of your royal law help us distinguish between the actions of the leaders of nations that reflect your kingdom and those that reflect actions of the enemy. Especially we pray for the Queen and the leaders of Canada.
Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer.
O Lord and giver of all good things, inspire us to learn how to manage our money so that we may cheerfully finance the work of your kingdom in the Church.
Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer.
Victorious King, you reign over life and death. As we remember the departed, may we be consoled with the knowledge that you are the resurrection and the life.
Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer.
O Lord and head of the Church, forgive our sin that hides the glory of your kingdom from the world.
Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer.
With thankful hearts we say, Amen.
